Can you hear it? The gentle roar of the surf on the shore? The smell of saltwater and sunblock filling your nose? Or, maybe for you, summer means the smell of cut grass and the crack of the bat at a baseball game, or the shouts and screams of kids riding roller coasters or waterslides. Can you hear it? Summer is calling!

Here at Biola, the alumni summer programs provide for a full slate of exciting opportunities both on campus and around the country.

The season is starting (or started, depending on when you read this) with Alumni Weekend on June 23–25 here on the Biola campus. The purpose of the weekend is to reconnect, relax and re-energize. And what place is better than Biola in the summertime? Here are some highlights of the weekend:

  • Great food, alumni-led seminars, a family-friendly carnival and plenty of opportunity to create your own experience and reconnect with friends and classmates.
  • Special recognition for class years 1967, 1987, 1992 and 2007, as well as a ’60s decade reunion hosted by the class of 1967 and a special relationship seminar for young alumni (2007–2017) presented by Chris and Alisa Grace of Biola’s Center for Marriage and Relationships.
  • A special presentation of the Alumni Awards, recognizing the significant contribution of individual alumni from various schools, years and careers.
  • An always-looked-forward-to special celebration for our “Golden Eagles” — those who graduated 50 or more years ago. If it’s been 50 years or more since you left Biola, give us a call so we can tell you about other opportunities to celebrate your heritage.

Each year Alumni Weekend is our annual celebration of all Biola alumni, including undergraduate, graduate and degree completion alumni, so if you didn’t make plans to attend this year’s event, check out the pictures and reviews on our Facebook page and plan to join us for next year’s weekend!

Even if Alumni Weekend didn’t make it onto your summer calendar, you’re welcome to pay Biola a visit during any travels you’ve got planned to Southern California.

And if you can’t get back to Biola this summer, we hope you’ll join Biola on the road with our regional Backyard Biola events, including visits to Colorado, Arizona, Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Texas and Hawaii. If you’re an alumnus, new or continuing student, or a parent of a student, we hope to see you when we come to your town this summer. Backyard Biola events are designed to introduce our newest students, our incoming freshman, to alumni and current students from their hometown, and our summer gatherings also provide a great venue for you to do some great networking and meet other alumni and parents from your area.

I know you will enjoy one of these great events. Learn more at biola.edu/alumni.
