Doretha O’Quinn is here to help burst the so-called “Biola bubble.” As vice provost of multi-ethnic and cross-cultural engagement, part of O’Quinn’s role at Biola is to create opportunities for students to get off campus and learn from cross-cultural experiences in Los Angeles and beyond. Among other things, she has been working to develop connections with diverse organizations across the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

“There are many diamonds in the city that go untapped,” she says. A native of Los Angeles by way of Houston, O’Quinn (M.A. ’85, Ph.D. ’98) has extensive expertise in education and intercultural studies.

She has taught leadership to government officials in Africa and spoken at women’s conferences in countries like Martinique. She has done missions work in Panama and has visited countries like Israel, Uganda and Ethiopia. She has also previously served as associate dean of the school of education of Point Loma Nazarene University, program director for graduate studies in education at Biola’s former Inglewood campus and director of the Institute for Urban Training at Azusa Pacific University.

Here’s your chance to get to know her.
